Bizzarre occurance at local track
A weird thing happened at a local outlaw track close by last weekend. Two s/pro racers staged,as the lights started to come down both drivers released their TB buttons. first driver went red.The other drivers car launched and then went to a slow coast down the track. Spectators just thought he was taking it easy since 1st driver went red. The car traveled the length of the track (1/8 mi.)to w/in a very short distance of the finish line and veered across the center line and stopped against the guard rail. After no one got from the car, they walked to the car and found the driver dead from a apparent massive heart attack. They think he was dead when he left the line. Would have been even more bizzarre if he hadn't crossed the center line and won the race.

Some of these "heart attacks" in g-force sports ( drag racing and skydiving) are not heart attacks at all. What happens is the Aorta ( main blood vessel ) gets ripped away from the heart due to the constant forces the body incurs during the launch of drag racing and the opening shock (parachute deployment) of skydiving. I've witnessed 2 of these events in skydiving and only after a autopsy was preformed was it found not to be a heart attack.
None the less it sucks and the person is dead.

I had a heart attack at the track. I had completed my three tt and they were calling first rnd elim. announcing that I had the bye run when it happened. Fortunatly I was not going down the track. Four months, four bypasses and 45 lb. lighter, I was back at it again.
