how much gear lube for a 9'' 31 spline detroit locker ?

this is on my buddys 57 t bird tube chassie car, neither the rear housing or the center section have a fill hole. Im thinking 3 qts but want to make sure.

2 quarts will be plenty

3qts would be a good test for the axle seals

I've always put about 2.5 quarts in..............

Well we filled it and it took 4 qts to bring it up to where the plug should be like moser said it would

I just have a factory housing for the time being, I dont know that a fabbed deal might take more????

The amount I use gets it to the bottom of the fill hole on the housing, its also below the axle tubes.

If you were afraid of going to fast, that will fix part of it.

For real i always wondered what this thing would run in the 1/4 but its a street car and a blast to drive even tho the poor thing is chubby powered at least its big chubby powered its a ZZ 502-502 with some tweakin done to it

No problem if it is a street car. I thought it was an all out drag car.
