Front Coil Springs for 62 Galaxie with a 460 swap

Hey everyone,
Okay, I really need some help. My 62 Galaxie originally had the 390 in it. It will now be rolling with a 460. Because of the extra weight and the fact that the springs on the 62 were original, I'm thinking it would be best to replace them.
Here's the catch though: I can't find anyone who carries springs that will fit the 62 but are weight rated for the 460. I was hoping to see if I could find the springs for the 69 or 70 Galaxie which had a 460 but I keep hearing that the springs for these two cars aren't the same size.
Anyway, if anyone knows how I can solve this problem, it would be of great help!

Do a search for Travis Rice, Member here. He has a 62 with big BBF. Very nice guy and will help you out.

if you are going with aluminum heads and intake and headers on the 460 the weights will not be much different.

Well, the intake is aluminum, but not the rest. Also, the springs are the ones from 1962. I suspect after that long they would begin to get a bit tired.

Look up Detroit spring they have or can build anything you want. I also thought that from 62-64 all the front springs were interchangeable.

I was able to find springs from a 74 Galaxie that had almost identical dimensions for the 460 from Rock Auto recommended by Travis Rice.
Jeff, I think you're right, however, I was afraid that the springs for those years wouldn't be able to handle the weight of the 460 since none of those years were built with the 460.

YES!!! Thats where I got my springs for my 61 Econoline pickup.
Thay make the springs for most of the factory cars, trucks etc. and can make The spring for your car in factory specs.
and a good price.
Oh you can tell how much more wht. than stock is on your frt. end and they can make still sit stock ht. or how much higher or lower you wont it sit.. The best place to get springs. Click on Technical Information at bottom of page and have fun and then click on Ask the Guru
