Re: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
It may sound like a stupid question, but for those of us newbies... what machine work would a guy need to be expecting if he wants to buy one of these and use it with a new rotating assembly... let's just say a forged 545 deal? I realize this is a very broad question, but just looking for a rough guesstimate for comparison purposes to prepping a passenger car 460 block.
Thanks
Thanks

I would think the A460 would possibly be less work. Either way, they need to be checked for the deck being square, crank bore alignment, and whatever overbore you desire.Your typical "blueprintng", so to speak. The normal cleaning processes would be the same for either and the A460 block wouldn't need any oiling modifications, given the priority oiling. Not to mention, the A460 will accept a lot more overbore than the passenger car block, plus it's just a lot more "beef"! Nice blocks, I like mine...

One cool thing about these blocks, the freeze plugs if you want to call them that can be drilled and tapped for block heaters....................

Lem called me yesterday and said my (Sonic) on my block was and I quote (A bad m f) can't wait to get it. He's going to explain it to me.
Thanks Lem. My Machinist was VERY impressed w/block. He said it was alot better than the Merlin and Darts that he had worked with.

The sonic was done at the plant. They keep it w/serial# of the block. I sent the ser.# to Lem and he got the sonic from Ford. Lem, I will call you tomorrow and you can explain it all to me.
