DILLIGASDAVE wrote:I have read on a few sites where a bunch of people are talking about gathering up all their expired belts and sending them all to NHRA at/around the same time as a protest of the 2 yr belt rule. Could be worth a giggle or two.
And replacing a window net after only 2 years is fuckin ridiculous. I can see where maybe the belts & net might need to be replaced IF a race car spent 100% of it's time exposed to the sun's ultraviolet rays. But I'm guessing the average race car spends most of it's time in either the shop/garage/trailer.
The NHRA really went on the money-grubbing war path after they lost all that delicious Winston money years ago.
In 1985, I put an expired seat belt around a tree growing in my front yard with a tri-trunk to keep it growing straight up instead of fanning out. It is certainly almost 2012 and the belt is still there and has been loaded like guitar string for over two decades; in the sun, every year, all year. The tree has actually grown around the belt but, it has not broken.

But, said tree hasn't put on/taken off said belt a dozen times a weekend in that period..
I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'

X 10 !!
My stroud window net was more than 35.00. T/S now needs a drive shaft enclosure which will require me to have another tranny tunnel made (just had a new one made for the for the car last summer) Before you know it, I will have to install a poured seat and auto shut off device on my car like ADRL is requiring. They had the drive shaft enclosure last year. Thats when there will be a 6 second T-bird for sale.

I haven't given the NHRA a dime of my money in 13 years other than going to National events as a spectator.
I would take up shuffleboard before I bowed down to them again.

AND , don't forget you will probably have to have insurance on your race car to go down their tracks also, maybe as soon as 2012.

I dont think anyone is bitching about having to have or wear certain equipment, the $$$$ you have to pay every 2 years on certain items is bullshit though.
They need to make the tracks have a damn SFI sticker on the f-ckin' track surface and prep, that shit causes more wrecks than a 3 yr old window net IMO.............and I mean for everytime the track is open, not just the NHRA events....

I don't like all the extra recerts either, but I wonder if alot of these rules are not caused by their insurance company requesting they? NHRA probably gets a cheaper rate quote from them if they make us do all the extra stuff.

NHRA or Beech Bend had nothing to do with those buybacks .Thank the NMRA for that...That's why I wasn't there this year. NMRA is X10 as bad as NHRA !!Tennessee Bullitt wrote:$60 dollar buy backs for bracket 2 at BG was a joke as well.

People ... they are doing all this re-certification bull$hit BECAUSE of the weeping water, bumpy tracks and trying to avoid informing their insurance providers about the REAL problem.
They feel that taking care of the aftermath of an accident is much better than preventing it in the first place ... at least lawsuit wise.
