If any fellow BBF fanatics happen to stumble in to the Lucas Oil race in Orlando this weekend or Gainesville FL the following weekend...stop by and visit.
There will probably be many of the popular 1958 Ford Custom 300s there, but mine is the red one.

Thanks guys.
I unloaded in Orlando today to set up for the 10.0 index class.
I had tuning to do, but the thing ran a 10.009 right out of the box.
Wish that had been a qualifying pass.....

It looked like it would rain at any moment....all day in Orlando.
My first qualifying shot at the 10.0 class netted #1 slot with a 10.010.
The air improved for the second hit, so I left the car alone.
It ran 10.006 to maintain the #1 position.
The 514 is about 300 HP less than the 605, but it is repeating nicely.
Raining hard now....hope it stops by morning.

M5 fuel....however, it made no difference from rot gut alky in back to back test yesterday.
It does smell cool. And maybe it is helping with the repeating performance.
It does not make my sled faster.
Since the drum is in my trailer, it will be my fuel of choice until consumed.

That's why I run on outlaw tracks or tracks that allow outlaws lol!

What kind of heads is he running now they may want leaner or less timing

.......thats why I asked Wink and going from plain alky to M5 and not seeing a gain may say more about the original tune to begin with.

KY... The 514 has Blue Thinder (CJ intake gasket) heads. I started out very fat on the fuel...and sped the car up by leaning it in increments to get back to my normal EGT. I did not get the opportunity to experiment with timing before qualifying began. In first 3 sessions, I held the #1 slot with a 10.006.
Last night, a buddy knocked me off the perch when he ran a 10.002. I am now # 2.
It is 33 degrees in Orlando this morning.....supposed to be about 45 when we start running.

They reportedly inspected 30 flex plates for SFI compliance. The only one that I saw getting changed, was due to about 10 missing teeth...not SFI.

Is what you are calling the normal egt the exact egt this engine has ran best at ? What I am saying is I would not rely on egt alone, I would verify with plugs and mph on the time slip.
