here is an add i read today

complete 490 cubic inch bbf .30 over and stroked,diamond pistons,hemi rods,dove heads worked,stud girdles,heavy springs, good valves,holley 1050 dominator carb,victor intake,motor was all balanced by machine shop, turns 7500rpm easy,one run on engine, sold chassis having heart trouble and no insurance must go headers and water pump might be sold this weekend,all wires,distributor,new plugs,new rebuilt starter,fresh oil and ready to go. will deliver for fuel and tolls, or you can come get it make a fair offer and its yours if headers and water pump go will be asking 7000 motor was set up to run our 500 cubic inch limit superstock class.

Could be.... But their are aftermarket Chrysler rods available too.

A Hemi rod is 6.850" long with a big end for a 2.375" journal. A 440 rod is 6.760" long for the same journal size.
Before all the other aftermarket rods were available, these were common rods being used in offset ground stroker engines.

AHHHH, the days of actual thought and craftsmanship when you had to MAKE stuff fit instead of simply BUYING it are long gone.

Unless it is totally "used up" it is well worth that amount of money.

Key word is "Freshen up" what was replaced and how abused are the parts thet where reused?

If its a trusted and honest source it sounds like a decent deal, if its like alot of people out in the world it could be a bunch of junk thrown together to recoupe some money..........
