I got 1400lbs of 4x4 parts on 2 pallets shipped from RI to Va for 400 & change. From Commercial to commercial. I went to google & found a site called freightcenter.com they will give you quotes from various shippers.

It's been a while: I shipped a complete 428FE via Forward Air and it was very reasonable.

I had a complete 8.8 rear end shipped from Florida to Minnesota, cost $185.00 but it was business to business.

If the shipper can drop it off at the dock all crated up and drained of fluids it'll be cheaper. Residential pick up charges and pick up charges in general will cost the most. If he can drop it off at the trucking facility's dock it don't cost much to stick it in a trailer and ship to another dock.
I've shipped them for $250 before...
