Re: Guns & Ammo :-)
I'm not sure how NJ compares to NY, but I had to jump through plenty of hoops and wait about three months for my concealed carry permit. I have a Sub-compact Springfield XD in 9mm for a carry pistol, plus a couple others that hang out in the safe. I love shooting, but car stuff takes precedence over buying ammo. I can drive my mustang or sweep up empty brass, wheres my keys...

I could never CC in NJ. You have to be a retired cop, work for a security company (mostly armored car), or have such grave reason only approved by a Judge. I'm still waiting on mine. My fingerprints never went to the Lakewood PD yet, when I had them done on Jan 27th, so I dropped off the receipt and form to the PD two days ago. The Detective in charge was very nice, so hopefully it won't be long now. It's just amazing how the 50 states differ so much, on a 2nd Amendment right we all share. Something about that is just not setting right with me. I won't move, so I guess I have to have patience.

Re: Guns & Ammo :-)
Even more strange than the differences in pistol licensing between states is the difference between counties here in NY. Each county has its own rules/procedures, it depends on the judge. Counties like the one I live in place restrictions on permits for 95% of people who receive a permit. Others give 95% unrestricted permits. It is very strange.

I dropped off my class certificate at the Sheriff's office this morning so now I just have to wait for the Kentucky State Police to process the application.

I do vote for everything I have a choice to vote for. When this comes up I will!!! Many times though, these slimeballs representing us, make decisions we have no say over. That's what pisses me off.

Re: Guns & Ammo :-)
I put this in the Ranger this morning. it should be good for .45 hp . I got another Blackhawk holster and modified so I could rotate the cant 90 degrees, then took a heavy leather gun belt and buckled it around the seat. Works great and right in hands reach, and with the lock feature if I'm in an accident the gun won't be flying around in the cab.

Re: Guns & Ammo :-)
I finally picked up my Firearms ID Card at the Lakewood PD on Monday, so yesterday I used my first permit on a Sig P229 9mm. I really like this gun. With my second permit, I'm going to order the Sig 1911 Stainless non-rail today, so hopefully it comes in before the permit needs renewal after 90 days. I know you non-Jersey guys are laughing at these rules.
Here's my new baby...
I hope to break it in real soon. I'd like to go back to that gun club I shot with my friends from work last week, but there's another place a couple miles from me I can go on an hourly rate.
Here's the Sig 1911 I'm getting next. I really liked the looks of the Sig 1911 C3 in the gun store, but it's too light I thought. The frame is aluminum, and I didn't want a compact version afterall. I want the full size 1911.

Keep your finger off the trigger when you holster that bad boy, or you might put a hole in your driveshaft

Re: Guns & Ammo :-)
I finally fired my Sig P229 9mm this past Tuesday. This gun is awesome, and it's like I set it to cruise control while shooting. I put 350 rounds through it, and I gave my friend a box of 50 who let me into the range. I wish I brought more ammo, because I could have stayed there longer than the hour and a half we stayed. I took a picture of the 8" target I set to the 27 ft mark, for my first two 15 round clips. Not bad for out of the box and not knowing the gun. I then set up the same target to 50ft away after 300 rounds, and I was getting ok at that distance. The new member meeting is the last Wednesday of this month, so I will be there, and hopefully a full member to go whenever I want. I can't wait to practice again. Here's my amateur shooting pictures. I can pick up my Sig 1911 POW gun in 13 more days. I already bought 5 new Wilson Gov't 47D 8 round magazines, for my next day at the range.

I like a shop that has all sorts of stuff, like crankshafts, transmissions, and an occasional .50BMG rifle.

Re: Guns & Ammo :-)
30 days have passed, so I brought home my Sig Sauer 1911 POW/MIA, KA-Bar Knife, Pelican case awesomeness! I decided to get a step up with my Sig 1911, and get the POW/MIA model. What a beautiful piece of art. I ordered a bunch of rounds, and this coming Wednesday, I will get the FOB key to have 24/7 access to the local gun club. I can't wait to shoot it and my Sig P229 9mm again.
I couldn't take a good picture of the dog tags on the top of the slide. So I will show another I found...

Re: Guns & Ammo :-)
I went today to the range, for the first time with my new access. This was the best 3 hours I spent by myself in a long time. I fired off 552 rounds of ammo, and left with a big grin on my face. I went to Lowes to pick up some cheap white spray paint for my metal targets, but when I got to the range, it was clear. LOL What a friggen loser. I was hoping to spray to check grouping, but it was all about the "pinging" today. Here's a quick setup pick and two vids with the new 1911 Sig Sauer POW/MIA. This gun shot awesome, and it made me look good for a rookie. I can't wait to go again.
