Valleydawg is a testing
I headed down to the HOH last night to make a couple of passes on the red car. There were not a ton of cars but it was packed with people that came to watch. First pass I deep staged badly and ran 4.73 @ 150. I was pretty happy with that since I had the motor, trans and rear-end out of the car this winter. About the time that I am thinking how good I was I was back in the pit and the car would not shift to park. After pulling the tin I didn’t have a bolt on the shifter linkage. How in the heck do you not tighten this…dang it. After fixing this we headed back up to the line. Car would not auto shift to second on the burnout so I shifted it and when I pulled up I noticed that the shifter was not back enough on the auto shifter for it to work. No problem right, I will manually shift for this run but after I lit the first bulb I remembered that I removed my shift light this winter. I have not manually shifted in years and never needed it. Well the first time out without it I needed it!!! I pulled in and lit the second bulb short shifted like crazy and ran a 4.80. Loaded up and headed home to fix the problem and re-install the shift light. My brother-in-law said while we were leaving that he had to re-train me how to drive ever year…I am starting to think he is right.

Damn nice lap. A 4.73 would fit right in with the 4.70 T/S class down here.

Thanks guys and yep I plan to run some of the 4.70 stuff down here. I am going to run Mike Hills race at Carolina next month (4.70). I would also like to run a few of the 4.90 PTRA races and a couple of bracket races.

Good job !
Got a question for you.....
How big a cluster &^%* was it up there ?? any ideas about their Sunday T&T ?? I've wanted to go to Jackson, but have heard horror stories about only getting 1 pass because of all the grudge racers. I'd hate to pull up there and get only 1 pass.
Thanks !

Mike - you can get passes on Sunday. The problem with the grudge stuff is the oil downs and it ticks me off sometimes but that is his money maker. I plan to go back next Thursday and it usually is no problem for me to get 3 or so passes. Gates open at 6:30 and I try to be out by 9:30 - 10. Let me know if you plan to make a trip to HOH. One thing you can say is the track hooks brother.

Thursday's are tough after a long day at work, but they are doable..
I might try and make it this Thursday..I'll know more later in the week..
I know the track has a rep for hooking, Looking to race there this year, after we shake this thing down...

Re: Valleydawg is a testing
Back to back 4.74's last night. I think I will leave the car just like it is. It should be about right for the 4.70 race next weekend! I might need to add a few more horses but not until after the first run.
