About a quarter of the way back, (which depends upon the total length of your drive shaft), from the front U-joint if only one loop is used.
Re: drive shaft loop
Supposed to be 6" from the joint.
But what do I know cause I am a - "I should expect that from a 21 year old, wet nosed, wanna be and faithful follower of someone else in Texas."

What if your shaft is only 4" from center of joint to center of

Thanks guys.
Barney what do you mean rear enclosure off the pinion support? I was only planing on 1 loop, I only have 475 to 500 horsepower and am using solid u-joints?

Re: drive shaft loop
I don't think the rear enclosure is a mandated item, hell I don't even have one.......but I probably should lol.

Re: drive shaft loop
definatley do 2 loops, one in the front 6" back from the joint and one as far back as the car will allow. dont want to catipult the car with the shaft.

Re: drive shaft loop
Barb Nesbitt rule, it's enforced quite a bit up here. It basically bolts to the pinion support wit 4 bolts and is a tube that fully wraps around the driveshaft. In the case of a failure the driveshaft supposedly can't come through the floor and beat the crap out of you. A couple years ago it happened to Barb Nesbitt and beat her up pretty bad. It was in the rules the following year.
Re: drive shaft loop
Front loop mounted within 6" of the front U-joint's centerline. Rear loop (when/where/if required) mounted within 6" of the rear U-joint's centerline.
Rear loop can be pinion mounted, or hung off of a chassis/frame structure. Rear loop is required in P/S, P/M, & T/S. It now may/may not be required in a bunch of other different national/local "fast" classes/circuits too by either the individual classe/circuit rules, or by local track rules.
But even if a given type of drag car might not need a rear loop to be legal (like say a 9.90 Super Gas car) a rear loop is still a damn good idea, as is a full DS inclosure.
