thats silly, mount it on the sterring wheel,or on the shifter, hurst shifters come with a button on them for that

If I remember correctly it's 7.499 and quicker that required the two button setup.

I ended up mounting the button on the passenger side of the raised base for my shifter. It's about 3" away from the handle, and I can release at 4-4200 and move just the little bit and start shifting! Went for quick turn around and put a big TCI mushroom button in though.

I still like the TB button on the steering wheel so you have both hands on the wheel at launch time ( have mine there ) but it's a personal preference thing

Yep definitely personal preference. I've had mine this way for years and if I changed it now I think I would be lost.

There's almost no way to grab it accidentally since you move your thumb to the side of the shifter when you release it to shift, that way your hands never have to leave the shifter in those cases you have to short shift second to get the front end back down.

Sorry for the hi-jack but does anybody know how to remove that top button on the Hurst pistol grip? I was using that for my line lock and it quit working. I did a resistance check and it's open all the time now. Only got about 15 passes on it. Maybe 2-3 times activating the line lock and was having a hard time getting it to engage and release then it quit. It's out of warranty cause it's over a year old Mad

It is, and I looked at that, but with the crazy bouncing that a mud truck is subjected to, it wasn't a good choice. I like where it is now, just got to get used to the super hard launches now.

Took it for a test session this past weekend, and when I lauched at 4k rpm, the guys watching said the rear squatted and the front tires were hovering just over the ground all the way from 1st and into 2nd finally to land flat when I let off the throttle. Twisted Evil

Oh yeah! Pulled back around and all Lloyd said was "damn, now that's how it's supposed to run!" Made me smile.
