32' x 14.5" w's @ 8psi car weighs about 3400+-
Transbrake, 5000 convertor ( not sure if I was all the way on it ) 4:10's , C6, 557
Mustang II front suspension so not too much front travel
Thanks for looking and helping

1 take the wheelie bars off
2 you need to put a little preload in the right side ladder bar, start with one flat.
3 Id try a 4.88 or 4.57 gear
4 methanol is always an option.................
where are you leaving at rpm wise?

Engine makes peak HP at 6000....crossing traps at 6100/6200
Just a pump gas deal
If I make it to the track next weekend I will be leaving all the way up against the convertor
Been at about 4500

I wont get into the argument but I'd bet money a good alky 1050 would make it faster.............
But I know where he is at with the deal so no need for a pissin contest over it...........

I don't know anything about alky to have any valuable opinion on it. I was more speaking of the chassis stuff. Not a pissing match.richter69 wrote:Barney wrote:I agree with everything he says except the methanol.richter69 wrote:1 take the wheelie bars off

Re: Launch Video update 4-14-12
looked like the left tire spun more than the right pull the bars and start over. i would'nt touch the ladder bars before i made a pass without the wheelie bars.lmo

Re: Launch Video update 4-14-12
I think Jon's right about the ladder bar preload. True the wheelie bars (and possible w/b stagger) can possibly cause a right or left launch. But the car also tried to twitch to the right during the burnout too, and wheelie bars shouldn't be having an effect on the burnout.richter69 wrote:...............you need to put a little preload in the right side ladder bar, start with one flat............
Instead of completely removing the wheelie bars, you might think about leaving them on the car if you are able to raise them high enough so they don't/can't effect the launch during initial testing.
What kind of usable at-launch HP/TQ numbers are you working with here? The part of the initial hit directly tied to engine power (the sidewall wind-up) did look a little lazy, even though there was enough engine power at work to cause some initial suspension separation to happen.

New video added
What I can tell is what Jon said earlier.....preload the right side ladder bar
Will try 1/2"-3/4" next time out and put a little more spring pressure on the right side

Re: Launch Video update 4-14-12
That launch looked a little better/straighter vs the older video. The side to side preload is probably a little closer now. The current preload setting would probably be almost dead-nuts perfect with a bigger engine/more torque to work with. The initial hit looked like it had a little more energy/grunt working than before, did you raise the launch RPM any? The rear coil over extension valving might still be a little on the loose side as it looks like the rear suspension continued to separate/extend (and possibly topped out) long after the initial hit happened. Does the car also drive straight on the top end too with the new preload setting?
I wouldn't stagger the rear spring height/pressure to change/adjust the side to side preload (especially with ladder bars). I would instead continue to use/adjust the ladder bar adjusters to move the preload/weight around.

Re: Launch Video update 4-14-12
Launch rpm went up to 5000 and I removed the wheelie bars and that's it. Everything else stayed the same as before. Compression at 50/50 and rebound at 6 clicks from full soft ( I believe). These launches are the 1st time I've seen that I've pulled the front wheels off the ground. It is driving straight on the top end.
Thanks for looking

Re: Launch Video update 4-14-12
Ok, I thought you were saying you moved the preload one flat like Jon said.
Since you didn't change the preload yet the slightly straighter launch might be from raising the launch RPM, and possibly from removing any possible wheelie bar stagger. Was the burnout still a little crooked?
If your extension/rebound is at 6 from full loose/soft now, how far from full tight does that equal (what is the total range)?

Re: Launch Video update 4-14-12
The rebound has a total of 32 "clicks" .....sometimes the burnouts are straight and sometimes crooked.....depends on the grove you get in lol.....the Winter Nationals will not be held there LOL

Just a thought
I would go 10lbs on the slicks drop the rear down a tad ditch the wheelie bars install a 2 step leave off the brake with studder at 3800/ 4000 make sure you get the tires sticky i ussually go thru 1st 2nd and get them hot till you feel it start draggin the car down maybe put a pro systems hp1000 on it setup for e 85 you can get it at kroger's just like a street car but when you stage pull in lite up studder out with the pedal on the floor when you pop off the transbrake you should feel a quick shift in the weight going to the rear should settle down about 70 ft out hold that thing to the mat when you get down to the other end if it makes you puke you know ya fixed it

Went to Mason Dixon today, been running rear tires at 8psi and been launching to the right, told my crew chief to set tires at 7.5 for shyts n giggles for one launch. Launched straight as an arrow.

Re: Launch Video update 4-14-12
It definitely dead hooks the tire, then unloads the tire. As everyone mentioned, the second launch looks much better. I would start by tightening the compression a couple clicks...try to keep the tire planted longer. It doesnt really have any weight transfer, but its a big heavy car so it wont have much anyways. How long of ladder bars and how many adjustment holes are on your front brackets(which hole are you in now)?
