when the engine produces peak horsepower @ 7200 rpm, at what rpm should one shift the glide? before 7200 is reached so that the shift occurs @ 7200 or at 7200 so the rpms increase a bit and drops back to close to the peak power numbers?

hope I explained it properly.

75-7800 would be my guess, but I'm sure testing would confirm.

Definitely a couple of hundred rpm or so above peak power,,,, so that the average power is higher. By average, I'm saying the range from the actual shift rpm to what it falls back to immediately after the shift.

thanks charlie thats the advice I was looking for. BTW I recieved a fantastic picture in an email last night. It has me excited. Wish I could post it.

Today I start and break in the new small block for a race this weekend. Thats why I wanted this information.
