OK, Now I'm done.... REALLY... :-)
Well, I just couldn't stand it yesterday, so after my son's Friday night and Saturday football games, I took off for the 190 mile drive to the last 1/4 mile race of the season in Lewistown, Mt... I didn't get to run Sat. afternoon, so I ate some dinner at the big potluck they always have, visited with a few of the Ford guys for a couple hours, and went to bed... I didn't get any vids, so I'll just fill you in on the day... The air was perfect today, with the track being at 4800', the cool temps. and dry air left us with a D/A of only 5000'... Time trials started with not very good traction, as I rattled the tires a bit on the launch with a 1.49 60' and ending up with a 10.18 @ 132 mph... 2nd time trial pass was better after I dropped 1/2# from the tires and kicked out a 1.46 60' and pulled out a 10.08 @ still 132 mph... I pulled a couple plugs after this pass, because it just didn't feel right, and the mph was down where it was when I ran the 10.37 last month there... It definitely showed lean, and I wanted to jet it up 2 sizes, but didn't have the right jets for that size so I went 3 sizes...
I made another pass, and as I figured it was a little too much because it slowed down to a 10.15, again @ 132 mph... So I tried to do 1 more change before they closed the lanes... I went back and split the difference on the jetting, and went back down to 1 size above my starting point, then I dropped the high speed air bleeds 2 sizes, and headed for the lanes... When I got there I found out the lanes were closed, so I had to ponder what to do for a dial-in... I chose to bite the bullet and just run off my 10.08, and lined up for eliminations... 1st rd. had a bad light, like having a sandwich bad... Lucky for me it was bad enough, that I got to see the other guy go red out of the corner of my eye so I just ran it out to see where my experiment would land me... It ran out the back door with a .108 break-out, running 9.97 @ 136 mph and a 1.40 60'... BINGO...!
2nd rd. it went 9.98 @ 135 mph with a 143 60' taking yet another win from the other guy's red light... I'm tellin' ya, I really think my truck makes them guys nervous... 3rd and final rd. (for me) It left strong, with a 1.41 60' and pulled hard right up until I pulled high gear... It rattled the tires so hard @ about 300' that it felt like I was driving on a washboarded dirt road, and I drove it out to a 10.11 @ 133 mph... But to no avail, I was hoping the other guy would break-out, 'cause when he came around me just past the 1/8 mile, he only had me by about 1/2 car... Oh well, that's racin'... One guy told me I left about 50' of rubber when it did it... Also, I did a gear change, because it had 4.56's in it and it would only pull about 6900 rpm at this track in the traps... I put in a 4.88 and let it eat... Today, my shift light was coming on about 50'-75' out, and I was pulling the traps @about 7400 rpm, shifting at 7200 rpm... And driving out the back door like I do, it was just clippng the limiter @ 7700 rpm...
All in all I had a blast today, and as always lots of people had lots of questions about my truck... One guy in particular was kinda funny... It was one of those "you had to be there moments"... He asked me, " Hey man, whatcha got in that thing...?" I told him a 521, and he says, "That's it...!!?" I said yep, that's it... He looks at my dial-in of 9.97 and says, "Man, that's a whole lotta truck to be runnin' that number..." Then he told me it was a "darn nice outfit, and it was very impressive" and walked away... Man, I love my truck...!!

Doug,
Congrats running 9.90's at 5000 ft. elevation is very impressive and hauling ass.It has to feel good going that fast at that elevation.

Yep... With the new gears, this thing feels like you hit it with a shot of NOS when you pull it into high gear... This thing's crazy...

Now what kind of a hot rodder would I be if I did that...?
Actually, I'm still undecided... I had 2 guys at the track yesterday offer to buy the engine, so I'm waiting now to see if they're gonna call me...
