IMO the guard drail had little effect on this crash. It never moved or came in to,you can't tell where he even contacted it.I'm not a fan of them either, but we got plenty of them around these parts!!

Re: BAD Crash @ US60 tonight
It appears the only thing lacking was the presence of trained EMTs on the track, its a good thing Dan was there, but honestly without the EMTs in place and ready not a single car should have went down the track.
Not that it would have mattered in this paticular outcome, but still.
As I stated even our outlaw tracks with no tech etc always have the EMTs in place, if they take a break the racing stops. Even the backwards track race had them............

You are right Jon, I don't see how the insurance company lets them run without EMT's on the scene?

Re: BAD Crash @ US60 tonight
We have a little track not too far from me that has some of the biggest rattle trap race cars that I have ever seen. No EMT's ,rusted up guard rails and the works. Some really quick cars there though . I never have and never will race there. NO INSURANCE

Question is....does the track have insurance.
Re: BAD Crash @ US60 tonight
When you sign the insurance waiver coming in ,it pretty well throws the insurance out the door anyway,so I've been told ??For the driver anyway..

Re: BAD Crash @ US60 tonight
after they keep me from being dead then I'd worry about insurance questions..................an on site EMT is not gonna mean you wont die right there on the spot, but I'd sure want them there to give me the benefit of the doubt.

Had a death of a fellow from Ohio just recently from a steel guardrail. There is some big talk of banning them. Check out www.dragzine.com

Re: BAD Crash @ US60 tonight
I got to thinking about the track I go to (Grand Bend Motorplex) and they have always had guard rails too.
I checked and they now use Jersey Barriers that are linked together. I have seen some pretty bad wrecks on the highway where the Jersey Barriers stand up real good.
Its one of those things I never thought much about but I'm gonna watch for now!!

You'll never ban them at an Outlaw track....72mav wrote:Had a death of a fellow from Ohio just recently from a steel guardrail. There is some big talk of banning them. Check out www.dragzine.com
