This one has me baffled! How do you install lexan windows without visible fasteners?

Seen it done many times ..... reinstall factory molding

Okay, but you can't do that with door windows!

Not everyone wants to carry the extra weight of factory moulding. I know it's not much, but either it's a racecar or it isn't...dumb rule in my opinion. But, having raced in the NMRA for years, I can't say I'm surprised...just another BS rule that improves safety in no meaurable way Exclamation

Our lexan rolled up and down. Attached to factory hardware in door. Looked like glass. Pro glass

You can take off the moldings if you want ... just leave that heavy factory glass in place.
One or the other.

Okay, but you can't do that with door windows!

The NHRA Super Stock Cuda's and Dart's have plexi-glas side windows which even open. They use a pull-up strap attached to the bottom of the window within the door ... you can't see any fasteners.

I agree. it should be a class rule that you cant have stock glass or carpet in the faster classes.

I remember a few years ago, one guy who openly challenged the stupidity of a certain rule.
It was a road race car and they run with the side windows down. The rule stated that regulators and stock factory glass must remain in the door.
He removed all the window tracking leaving JUST the regulator and smash the window into little bits and put it in a plastic tube of PVC in the bottom of the door to have that weight 6 inches off the ground.

i have spent alot of money this year updateing my car so i could play in these type of races.its sad to say it but the racer's that dont have this stuff in their cars will get pointed out quickly.around here it started with LS (limited street)a factory car with alot of balls.sevral years and it has turned in to X275,OL275 etc the promoters cant see that these cars are not street driven anymoor or to change the stupid rules.it costs people money to plan around how to keep the stupid interior etc to apeese the gods!

Theoretically then scratch , where I have the black border around my lexan windows with the screws, I could put black tape around the border, then the screws would no longer be visible Twisted Evil .

That's why I gave up on the SS if it works better it has to be illegal racing years ago, the money runs out fast when you have to constantly change your combo. It used to be about who could build, and drive better, but now it's who has the deepest pockets and can bend the rules the best. With the technology and combos you can write a check, or slide a card for, if you have the dough, you can run the show... Sad

I know someone who did exactly that and the other racers in the class complained that fasteners were still visible because of the protrusions in the tape. The next week he bought some 1/8" thick foam rubber tape like is used to insulate around a house door so, nothing underneath it was visible. THAT was OK.
It is a total shame to make racers jump through these hoops just to satisfy a BS rule.
