Manny of the terrior breeds were developed just for that purpose. Boston Terriors are highly noted rat catchers, they are comfortable actually going into tunnels after them. Pits are easily trained to be fantastic ratters. The boston terrior has even taught my yellow lab/sharpie to rat. Although the rats we got are either ground squirls or lizzards, they bolt out the door, and go to kill anything in the quad. Its hillarious to watch em go at the lizzards.

Adam about 30 years ago a tornado hit my grandfathers house and when we tore it down a neighbor came over when we were doing it with his rat terrier and that little son of a gun was like watching a pinball machine as he killed them...
