Hood to carb clearance ?

Has anyone had hood to carb clearance issuses that resulted in low hp numbers ? or poor performance at the track?

Yes, ideally you want 4 inches of carb to hood clearance.

if its too close it can screw with the vent tubes and the air bleeds......you can always pull it off and run it to verify, just make sure you use big unrestrictive air cleaner of sorts.

Thanks planned on doing that tonight , but just got in from helping my son mowe three big yards and weed it ! I am tuckerd out! try it tomorow night maybe

so when we had it on the chassis dyno that could make it run rich at Idle and lean out on top end ?

Running my car with hood on and hood off for the past two weekend at the same track . I have found that running the car with the hood off is worth 1tenth et. exhaust was also worth about 1tenth . Thanks for the input and I planning on picking up a new hood next weekend in BG.

The air horns or vent tube were 1/4" a way from the hood . Runs better now but still not getting the et or mph I was looking for!
