Winterize Ur Race Car How to?
I remember Jon Kasse mentioned keeping the rust from forming in the headers but don't remember how to?
Fuel system? Cooling system?
Any Ideas would be great.
Thanks.

Pull the plugs, WD40 the cyls real good, spin the motor over, plugs back in, back off valves.
Drain the water, add fresh and add coolant if the shop gets below freezing.
I like to change the oil and filter before putting it too bed, prime the pump or run for a bit to circulate it throughout.
Put on jackstands, let the suspension hang.
Good idea to cap the exhaust and make sure the crankcase is sealed so the mice dont find a home.
I leave the fuel system "wet" so seals wont dry up, a little "stabil" to the fuel and the motr run a bit wont hurt.
Cover up the tires.

Les, the thing Kasse was talking about was getting the headers ceramic coated so they don't rust.

Thanks.. I was thinking that rust will form inside and because of revision (cam) that rust could be sucked inside the cly while cranking (first start) after the winter.. I thought that was the reference..
My bad and this is the stuff I was looking for so thanks again!

Less,
If you do get rust later you can remove it easy.
Remove your headers. Find around a 4' length of 3/8ths steel cable. Fray one end. Install in a 1/2" drill and run it through your headers. I turned Rick Brown on to this. He swears by it. Dont run them AT ALL if you suspect rust.
Also, for safetys sake. Run the the cable from the collector end ONLY, while doing the primarys. Then the opposite for the collectors. This way the cable is stableized along its length by the tubes. If you dont, it will whip out like mad injurying you for sure.
Makes em like NEW inside.

I fog mine down at the end of the racing day, I get the water and oil temp real hot (alky) and right before I shut it off I spray the snot out of the carb with WD40. I suppose a bit gets in the headers but i doubt enough to ward off rust.

Re: Winterize Ur Race Car How to?
no, they are coated inside and out.
I wouldnt consider running an alky motor without coated headers if your worried about rust lol.
A side note, this last drum of M5 alky had an orange tint to it, I guess it has a dye in it now, anyhoo it turned the inside of the headers a nice orange color....weird stuff.
