I would say that's a 3/4 cam, but it looks more like a 7/8...

Not mine luckily. A buddy of mine is an airplane mechanic and sent me that pic. He said that he put in a used cam because new ones are hard to come by and cost an arm and leg. That used one was over $2k. I never realized how big those engines are. He said a 7 cyl is over 900ci and the 9 cyl is almost 1100 ci. If they need more power, they can stack them front to back in banks of 2, 3, or 4 for 14, 21, and 28 cyl deals. Sounds like they are a real PITA to work on too. The way I got it, they are putting turbines in them rather than rebuild the radial engines.

That statement sucks..... Those radials sound cool as hell !!! My dad worked at the local airport for 20+ years when I was growing up. I remember you could always hear the old Stearman's coming before you could see them...
