Gooseneck hitch questions Empty Gooseneck hitch questions

Post  Galaxie427 August 16th 2012, 8:27 am

I've got a gooseneck hitch on my 95 F350 crew cab. I was about to take it out, since I do not own anything goosenecky, but my pal says I should keep it for "someday".OK, that sounds good to me. But here's my question: I can see that a ball would click into the hole like a big air hose coupler, so why not have the "coupler" down about an inch or so? Then you could have a flat bed with a trap door to open up and click that ball in place. I've got my bed off right now changing out fuel tanks, and I intend to clean up the frame and do some painting. Origianlly, it was gonna be the end of the gooseneck, but now that I'm keeping it, I wonder if I should lower it a little?

Thanks!
Pete

not sure which brand you have but some of them allow you to just flip the ball over and it then sits flush with the bed. Just a thought

Thanks! Yeah, this one just snaps in like a quick connect. I think I'll lower it on the frame rails if I decide to keep it. Looks like the ball I need is $100.
