Nick, recently I noticed that after making a post if you want to use the "back" button you have to go back through the post window a couple times to get back to where you started. On the other forums I frequent after making a post when you click the back button it takes you right back to the main thread in one easy step. Is this an option or just the type of forum software that you are using?
