True Street at Bowling Green...our first time
We tried TS for the first time @ Beech Bend and I must say that I now have a new-found respect for those guys with quick 9, 10, and 11 second cars that can survive a slow 30 mile cruise (or crawl) and then rip off 3 back to back runs at the track !! WOW !!!
Other than getting the wrong number put on our car, it went smooth.
That cruise was a torture test for most cars. It was almost nerve racking to maintain pace, especially with a 5 speed. We never got out of 2nd for the first 10 miles. We were the 5th car back. It's too bad that Troy Eaton ( # 29 in front of us) had to drop out on 31W. He only had about 4-5 miles to go.
I got a thrill outside of Smiths Grove when Lidio Iacubelli (yellow fox coupe directly behind us) got on the throttle....I first heard this 'Whoooosh" then looked in the rearview mirror to see him coming up on us fast !!
We tried TS once...but not again.

Yeah Alan, I've seen a few of those on the tube, and thought to myself, "Man, I'd never be able to contend with that" I'd rather just go to the track and put it in a class and run it... I guess to each, their own though...

As a long time true street/wild street participant, I gotta say that cruise was one of the worst. I was at the very back and it was super slow. Certainly a torture test!
Missed winning the 11 second class by .12
But it was a fun weekend none the less...

Man that is cool. That is the only way I'll build a car. Heck, its the only way we do it where I'm from.

I saw that. Man, that's close ! We were 2nd as well in the 15 second group, but not nearly as close as you. I took out the drivers side floor mat after the first pass and the car picked up .9 sec.
How did you do in the burnout contest ? I noticed your right rear wheel whobbling when you drove thru the staging lanes with your junker tires on the back.
Here is the final TS results:

I have always wanted to try that myself. It seemed like all the classes were very tight this weekend. There was a lot of very consistent cars there out this weekend that is for sure.

This was first and probably last TS event. The traffic control was terrible. Did ya'll see all the harley riders get traffic stopped for them? If it had been 20* hotter I think it would have knocked out 95% of the cars. My car hit 210* at one point while we were creeping with the wind at our back. I got DQ for my alternator crapping out and switching batteries.

Way to go James, any video of the burn out contest? How did the tires look when you were done? It looks like Lidio was trying for the 10 second class on his last pass.

Re: True Street at Bowling Green...our first time
It was a tough cruise, but that is what it was designed to do...
With that big of a car count it has to be hard to manage, I did a NMCA true street race where there were only 30 or so cars. Cruise was a breeze that year!

Big chuck I want to see you back in bg next year with a new Ride and hope you get better.

Sorry to hear you got D.Q. Casey.
I saw where those bike riders got police motorcycle escorts.
I was not aware at the time that we were supposed to obey stop signs and light signals within the city limits..... I must have missed that @ the drivers meeting, but I did listen to everything those guys said.
