Equity Pull Empty Equity Pull

Post  TRUKPULR September 16th 2012, 11:36 am

Equity Park Pull.

First of all My two beer drinking buddies Bruce and Craig had other obligation they had to attend today So I was by myself there in a sense.

So this was a working weekend for me so I had to take a days vacation to attend the pull. Anyway Got home from work and jumped into bed to sleep till noon then head to Equity Park which is just 25 miles down the road from my place. It's a Home Town pull so to say.

Well surprisingly I slept till the alarm went off at noon, Got up Stopped at the gas station for some and lunch and ice and was on the road to Equity by 12:25 pulling into the parking area there at 1:00 p.m. Went a got registered the headed back to my trailer to change tires to the DOT for Super Stock.
This is where my day started to go to $hit. Zipping the lug nuts off the tires I had one Bind up on it's threads tight, to the point it started to spin in the hub. So my options where to leave the Mod tires on the truck and just run Mod today, or find someone with a torch and cut the lug nut off and Run one Lug nut short.
Just so happened Mike Mech was walking by and I asked him if he carries a torch in his truck, He said no but his shop is just 10 minutes down the road. So he went to get it. Cool beans. So I changed out the other tires while I waited for him to get back. Then got ready to cut the lug nut off. it wasn't 10 minutes after he got back I had the lug nut Cut off and popped the stud out of the hub. OK where ready for Super Stock now. Did I mention they had Tractors here today, they where in the 5500 pound pace class as I got finished changing tires. So we had time to waste. Well the tractors got done at 4:00 p.m. we had a Drivers meeting and then we started the Trucks at 4:30 p.m.
There was 9 classes of trucks today with Super Stock being class 5 which I was the 3rd puller out of 6 trucks in this class and Mod 4x4 being class 9 where I was the 3rd puller out of 3 in this class.

OK Super Stock gets up and we have 6 trucks in the class Ben Holtger, Ed McClain, ShaZam, Boyd Meyers and Tom Scheffen. Jamie Britz broke his truck in Open stock so he couldn't play in Super with us tonight.

OK Jimmie made some adjustment by adding some weights to the box of the sled and he was ready for us.
Ben was first puller he got his Open Stock Truck hooked up and Came off the line nice and easy and as the last stage hit him he slid to a stop at the 320.18' mark with a track speed of 24.3 mph.
Next up was Ed McClain as he got ready to pull he got the chain tight and did his three Power Rev's put his C6 in 1st and took off like he was out on a Sunday drive with Elbow out the window. Jimmie Stopped him at the 309.09' mark with a track speed of 22.9 mph.
OK it's ShaZam turn, Now from the past couple of weeks I learned to be a little more patient coming off the line and letting ShaZam get a hold of the track before I give her the yacabustca.
So I get hooked up and pull the chain tight, All switches on then I Bring the R's up too 4500 and we start to move off the line, we get out to the 50' mark and I can feel ShaZam Tuck her ass and I give the throttle a push to wide open and the R's start to climb. This run feels really good and the tach is riding at 8000 to 8800 as I headed down the track but this wasn't an out of control 8800 it was Hooked to the track Jimmie's sled got light at the 300' mark that let the motor hit 8800 then it pulled the motor down to 7800 as it slid to a stop. when it was all said and done ShaZam was sitting at the 333.69' mark and we had a track speed of 25.0 mph. So off to the trailer to change tires for Mod 4x4 Class.
As I was getting ready to change tires Boyd Meyers got hooked to the sled Pulled the chain tight and gave it all he had off the line and Jimmie stopped him at the 256.05' mark with a track speed of 11.1 mph.
Last truck in Super Stock was Tommy Scheffen he got hooked up and he left the line with Guns blazen and tires just a spinning, at the 300' mark I heard his engine pick up a few octaves meaning he broke something and he slid to a stop at the 332.05' with a track speed of 25.8 mph had he not broke I'm sure Tommy would have gotten me, But he didn't haha 1st place for ShaZam in Super Stock.

So ok where changing tires and on the same wheel that gave me troubles earlier today I had another lug nut bind up on me, So once again I had to ask Mike if he still had his torches here and Lucky for me he did. So I hack an wack that other lug nut off, I wasn't comfortable about running with only 4 lug nuts on the passenger side to a Pulled the Drivers tires off and knock a stud out of that side to put in on the passenger side. So we get the tires changed and I'm feeling good about the whole deal we just got done with. I'm thinking I'm working way to hard for this to be the last pull of the season.

So Mod 4x4 finally comes up and it's now 7:15 p.m. Jimmie added one more block of weight to the sled box and he was ready to go.

First up was Boyd Meyers He got hooked up to the Sled and took off and it just never seemed to get up and go. he pulled the sled 229.27' with a track speed of 9.6 mph.

Ed McClain was up next he got hooked up pulled the chain tight gave his Going Crazy Ford three Rev's and dropped it into gear and took off and had a good head of steam going till Jimmie hit him with the last stage and stopped him at the 319.99' mark with a track speed of 23.2 mph.

OK So I get ShaZam all hooked up went thru my Pre pulling check list. I get the chain tight start to bring the r's up and once again at 4500 we start to move and I bring the r's up to 5000 and wait till I feel the rear end set then I gave the throttle all she had and the tach headed to 8000 and the little light was flashing at me again at 8800 when Jimmie's sled seemed to get light at the 300' mark. but we just kept going till the last stage hit the R's then pulled down to 7800 and ShaZam slid to a stop at the 332.81' mark with a track speed of 25.9 mph.

So 1st in Mod also today so I guess the extra work with the lug nut paid off after all.

So with this the 2012 Pulling Season is officially over. ShaZam had a great season and is still running pretty strong.
So now it's into the shop with her and I'll be putting her on a diet to try and get some more weight in the box.
But then again with how she's been pulling maybe I just should leave things alone and wait till next season is over to decide weather to make any changes to her.

Any thought on this from my readers email me

Till Next year See ya

Dang Dan, what a way to finish a season...! If I finished a season like that, I'd do nothing over the winter but a little refresh on the powertrain and and relax and watch some football... Cool Cool Cool

Da Snake is correct, no rest for the butt kickers, find a little or a lot more if you can, you know the competition is. Twisted Evil
