my name is b j. johnson , owner of b & j classic car rebuilders in whitehall , arkansas. i have a coustomers 70 mustang in the shop to install a 460 hi performance w/c-6 trans .. the problem is that i had to take the stock exaust manifolds off to get the engine to sit down and bolt up. it is appearant that i am going to need headers that will fit without messaging the shock towers for clearance.. also that they will clear the powersteering box ,because very little grinding can be done in this area. i have been talking to a builder on 460ford.com who is going through the same problem with his car. i have installed the correct frame mounts and motor mounts for the 429-460 swap into the 70 ...got them from virginia mustang. just need some headers to make the project work without cutting , welding or massaging any surrounding mets. any help or suggestions at this point will be greatly appreciated. my shop cell phone is 870-550-0732...after closing, my home phone is 870-325-6907....thanks for your time....bj

That steering box is a real pita,I had a set of Tubular automotive 10 piece headers on it that had 2" primaries. I notched the frame and set the steering box back in the frame and it worked great.

Mine were just like these and they were easy to install.

Rick the tubulars are nice but a pain to install. I have a set of Tubulars with some battle scars....

they are a pita due to the shock towers in the way and the way the tubes turn down from the port............just how it is w the factory front suspension and a BBF

My towers were cut back.Easiest headers to install I ever had other than Tweety's.All are hard if the towers are stock.

I got my headers with mounts from Autokrafters in VA. The kit moved the engine forward a little. The rear tubes swap sides under the oil pan. I didn't have to clearance anything. My car doesn't have power steering though. The headers are $649. As mentioned earlier...I ended up with with less than 1/4" on pass side between header and shock tower. I have notched mine since then. I believe I had to remove my front sway bar also. Clearance between water pump and radiator was also an issue as I couldn't put a fan between pump and radiator. I put it in front and have 2 small fans on each side of the water pump snout. Hope this helps. http://www.autokrafters.com/v4files/autokrafters/MU_11_Pt3.pdf

Tubular automotive make headers for most of the aftermarket companies ,they probably made yours too.

They are 10 pieces (8 tubes and 2 collectors) You can't run a rear sump pan on the older mustangs (64-73).
