Need help PLZ
Ok I've been trying to get my bronco to run right for years now I gave up for a while now I'm back at it.
It's a freshly rebuilt 460
Stock rebuild kit
Over 30
Lunati voodoo cam 252-262 dur 530 lift
Performer intake
429 timing set
Stock ignition
It's been sitting a while after the rebuild and I decided to finish her up and get her running
So she started fine and revs fine
But it will not pull under a load it won't turn past 3k on the floor
So I checked the timing it's 13 initial 35 total
So I thought maybe its the fuel system
A buddy let me borrow a complete fuel system so it's not that.
I checked the cam it's dot to dot
Checked the compression it's 140-150 on all 8
It barely will crank now and blows back threw the carb
Could it be the stock ignition ??
I really don't know what else to check I really wanna take my little boy riding in it
So any help will be greatly appreciated
Thanks Micah

What carb and have you put a vacuum gauge on it to see what it is doing at 3000 rpm?

It's a holly 850 with a proform body and it wouldn't run with my 600 cfm holly either
It had a mechanic pump and a 600 holly it wouldn't run
I put my buddy's 850, blue pump and regulator and no change
Didn't check vacuum and it won't crank now

When you say it wont crank. Do you mean the starter engages but will not turn the engine over or there is nothing happening at all.
If the starter is having trouble turning it over is it siezed? Pistons to tight in bores? Bearings to tight on crank? mechanical binding?

Bad fuel? How long has it been sitting? If it's over 3 months get some fresh gas.

I would change the plugs,if that don't help I would change the dizzy,do you have the vac. hooked up,and where?,maybe check your power valve also, I,ve had coils to drive me crazy too, so it may take some trouble shooting here. Hope this helps,MavMavBig block fox 339 wrote:1970 ford maverick wrote: OK, have you thought about a new set of "Autolites"?, just a thought,MavMan

Be sure to drain the old fuel from the carb to (remove a lower fuel bowl moutning bolt to drain -or better yet remove the bowls and clean out). I just went through this myself a month ago. Old gas can make a big mess in the carburator.
