Original Ford Boss 429 and A441 Heads Will Be Back in Production
The original Ford Boss 429 Hemi and Ford SVO A441 Hemi cylinder heads will be returning to production. These historical cylinder heads still have their place in the world of Ford history and in racing with Ford-powered racing vehicles/vessels, and it's great that the sparssness of their availability will soon be diminished.
Starting with the casting process, these heads will be poured into the original patterns which have been completely refurbished to be put back into use. And so both the Boss 429 and A441 heads will be just like the originals, the only (internal/non-visible) upgrades being that the Boss 429 head will have a thicker cylinder deck and gusseted combustion chamber skull for strengthening and reinforcement for power applications beyond restoration vehicle purposes. They will be machined per the original Ford drawings, and so externally the appearances of both heads will be exactly as they were when originally manufactured by Ford.
I am not at liberty to disclose great details beyond what I am allowed to state here; I will go so far as to say that it is essentailly a "brand new" undertaking has not come about by purchasing another aftermarket cylinder head manufaturer's patterns and blueprints. This is as close to through-and-through OEM Ford Boss 429 and A441 originals as is possible. Rocker arm production will also commence.
As I personally continue to see the interest in the 385 Series platform grow, it's fantastic to know that pieces of history such as these heads will be available to those that are only discovering 385 Series just now, and that they will be available to enthusiasts and restorers who have longed for them to be readily accessible.

Paul, Will the A441 Runners all be angled the same goofy way ? All the same way?! Not sure Mr. Root was thinking correctly.

Guys, I don't know the answers to your questions because we are not the actual supplier or maker of the new heads, and this is still in its infancy. I am able to relay this much detail only because the new business purchased a quantity of our engine components for their racing program. Obviously I had lots of questions, too, and I asked only as much as I felt professionally appropriate. I also asked permission to leak the above info, and received their approval.
Personally, my initial impression is that there is reasonable financing behind this endeavor. They have a Top Alcohol Funny Car program and also play with Fuel, currently experimenting with TFX Hemi engines. BUT they are Ford guys to the bitter end and have therefore entered the 385 Series head biz. TFX Hemis are far from outdated technology and if I ventured to take a guess...I'd think they might very well further develop the Ford head programs that they've taken on. But this is only spectulation on my part.

This specific A441 head program is not dead, however I am not at liberty to give further details. That said, I would suggest that if you have a shortblock waiting for a set and need them immediately then for the time being you might consider other A441 offerings that are current...but again this particular head program is not dead.gordyd4 wrote:What ever happened to these heads?

A441 Heads
The original A441 heads are ready for market - they are being produced by Blue Crescent Cylinder Heads and Engine Components - so keep your eyes out for them

Sam ,
I see Racetec has added Boss 429 ( and stroked versions) pistons for original Boss heads to their Autotec line. Any chance you and Tiny had anything to with that?

These heads are in production, but production is not yet high volume and is ramping up slowly. In fact I saw several fully machined A441 castings earlier today, and both the casting and the machining look excellent.Nightmare AA/FA wrote:Any update on these heads?
Another few pairs will be available in January. These heads will be available in water-jacked form as the standard-issue, or as cast-solid (no jacket) as a special order.
