2.25 Primarys too big for 523 SCJ?
Are 2.25 Primarys too big for 523 SCJ with a xr292 roller? I can get a really good deal on some stainless 2.25 tubing but if its too big to keep velocity up on a 523 inch Scj headed motor i dont know if i wanna do it. THanks

It's bigger than it needs to be per the application...but it may not matter a lot depending on the intake manifold , carb and cam..........it's a package

Well right now the package is just a 523 FRPP crate with out of the box SCJ's and the A-514 mechanical roller. Its got a motorsport victor intake on it and the plan is to put a xr292 or similar cam in it and leave myself a little room to have the heads ported down the road. Thats pretty much the "package". Thanks

Im making the headers myself, the rest of the exhaust is 3 in. through mufflers all the way to the back of the car

With having an exhaust I'd be even more enclined to use the smaller tube.

ya im not looking for that much speed right now. Im not trying to push using the 2.25 and know the i dont need that big, I can just get the tubing alot cheaper in 2.25 than i can in 2 or 2.125, the real question was if the velocity drop would be too much and would the power/torque difference between them large enough to absolutely not use the 2.25. If it is i'll go smaller and move on. THanks

It will lose torque in the 3500 rpm range of your converter, and probably won't gain it back up top with the combo you have now.
It's not going to break the bank, but it won't be as good as it could be.
But it will sound great................. Go for it.

You will lose only about 50 to 60 lb/ft of peak torque and more below the peak. With a street vehicle, you probably didn't need it anyway.

The other consideration is packaging and a 2" tube will make header fab a bit easier!
