SCJ HEADS.....
We have them on the motor now an they have had a 3-angel valve job done to them.A pic of one of the heads.
we would like to know if we could do some more work to them.

Re: SCJ HEADS.....
if that code number on the second exhaust port reads as it looks D2OE-AB those are PI heads the CJ heads Code is DOOE-R and yes either way they can be made to flow quite well....if in the right hands... you can get lots more power if you throw that Edelbrick carb in the trash also and get a holley.... or Quick fuel...

Re: SCJ HEADS.....
a PI head came on Police interceptor engines they came in Police cars.... they have slightly smaller intake volume and usually have a 2.19 intake valve compared to the CJ head which had 2.250 intake I think they both came with 1.76 exhaust valves unless it was a SPEC head and then it could have came any way possible. Ford did a bunch of experimenting with heads and they were marked SPEC couple have bigger intake runners bigger valves or different exhaust.... no one knows....
In essence they are good heads and can be made to flow good, just have to be put in the right hands to work, do not just grind away that will ruine them faster than anything....

Scotty is a very competent iron or aluminum head porter, as is Bret Powell. Both can be reached here on this board.the Coug wrote:if you were wanting to send them out Scotty at reincarnation he is the Mad Porter on here...PM him and see what he can do for you.....

One big difference between SCJ and PI heads from a performance standpoint is the chamber size. Your PI heads will have a much larger chamber then SCJ heads - so you won't have the compression with the PI heads you would with SCJ heads unless they've been milled.

Brian I forgot about the chamber volume but either way they will make him some good performance heads....

Re: SCJ HEADS.....
milled is machining the face surface down to decrease the chamber volume (or make it true)
IIRC the PI head has a different/better exhaust port than the CJ head

Re: SCJ HEADS.....
Yes the PI's do have a little better exhaust port than the CJ/SCJ's... They also have a nominal 88cc combustion chamber vs. 72cc for the CJ/SCJ... I had 2 sets of PI heads that were date coded SPEC and 1 ste of SCJ' that were date coded the same... On the PI heads, one set had CJ intake ports and the std 2.19/1.72 valves, and the other set had 76cc chambers with CJ intake and exhaust valves but had the PI ports... I don't know what tha SCJ's had different under the SPEC date code, 'cause they were already too big to begin with... X2 on talking with Scotty aka The Mad Porter about having your heads tweaked... He's undoubtedly, the iron head master of the BBF...
