just mocked up heads c9ve -a studs guide plates and rollers with out cutting down stud bose ex valves is good side to side and when the valve is open roller tip is in the center
intake valve side to side is off a little the rocker only needs to move over about 1/8 inch has anybody ever cut the guide plate

on my a429 heads the guide plate have a cut in the middle between the push rod slots so they could be adjusted to center the rockers on the valves they was this way when I got them for that same reason.They are not cut in two, just enough so they could be adjusted

Most serious type engines have "adjusted" guideplates ... this is not a small block Chevrolet; it takes a lot of checking as you go and a bit more talent to get it right.

Yep, just made a set of 7/16" guide plates for EX514 iron heads out of BBC plates.

there not that far off just tweeking the slot on the guide plate not having to cut and weld thanks guys

I have done that on almost all of my 460 type heads to get everything where it should be.

Quick? Here yes I heard of this. And had some issues and in past on previous builds.
will the Jesel type bar setup they all in the center 'or' not? Thanks

i tweeked the guide plate at the slot and can turn engine over and they stay in the middle ordered chrome moly push rods 0020 longer than stock that should put me in the center of the valve tip with the roller i done the marker trick and it looks good its riding a little to the top 0020 should get in the middle

I always get my motor built put it together then bring assy long block to my machine shop so they can measures my pushrod lenght. I know as nothing to do with the side to side movement. I think I might get a Jessel type cause I will have almost .800 lift am assuming.

yea my lift is only 543 i think i'll be ok thanks guys just wanted to be able to adjust them

That's good you do that cause I seen many of stock type build that are more than halfway off the valve tip at full lift. Is that what you where dealing with?

all my machine work was do at pauls prefomance in melrose line bore resized rods bored for 30 speed pro flat tops balance engine done head work when the valves are open roller tip is allmost in the center of the valve stem
