Eccentric mounting ? Empty Eccentric mounting ?

Post  OldRed70 January 18th 2013, 3:27 pm

Just got the 1 piece fuel pump eccentric in from Lem . I know I read it somewhere but can't find it . My question is my old 2 piece has a nipple bent out to fit in the cam to hold it from turning and the New one I got doesn't how do you mount it to the cam to keep it from spinning around the bolt . Any input would be appreciated

Thanks
Jimmy

Jimmy
I am just running off memory, but I believe there is a hole in your solid eccentric that aligns with the cam pin.
It seems like the cam pin should protrude past the face of the top sprocket and engage the hole, but not stick out past the eccentric. The cam bolt washer then covers a portion of the pin.
Maybe that helps???

The older 1 piece for the 385 engine had no hole and relied entirely upon the cam bolt clamping to keep it from turning.

Randy is correct, as usual. But if it worries you, you can pin the eccentric to the cam gear.

What really irritates me sometimes is the little (simple things) like that that I forget as I get older.I find myself going back to my engine manuals for torque spec's etc. Really sucks getting older huh Keith. Embarassed Laughing
