F-250's with 6.2 L Gas
Anyone towing with the 6.2L gas motor? I've been looking at 2012 F-250's and 350's. I have no desire to own a diesel. How do these 6.2L's run with say a '28 foot enclosed and a heavy 3400lb car. One day I need an enclosed trailer but I need a truck first.

The production manager at work has the 6.2 he also has a f250 with the 7.3 powerstroke said it pulls as good as the 7.3 does. But he said the gas milage really sucks on it only 12mpg empty about 9 pulling.

I wouldn't say that sucks at all for mileage. That is actually pretty good for a big truck like that. My new PSD is only doing about 13-4 mpg empty right now, and about 10 when I pull one of the gooseneck trailers. Even my old 7.3's didn't do much more than 12 pulling big trailers. I had an 02 Chev HD2500 with a 6.0 gas engine, and it wouldn't do over 10mpg no matter what I did.

I love my 93 model 7.3 I get 19.8 empty and between 13 and 14 pulling my 24' pace trailer and truck with everything in the trailer about 10,000.But the them newer 7.3s powerstrokes in the duallies we had at work would not get that only around 13 empty. But I agree I didn't think that was bad for the 6.2 ether pulling a gooseneck and backho around plus gas is cheaper than fuel.

His 7.3 must have needed a tuneup fosho.

My 2010 F150 5.4 tows my 26' trailer fine, the trailer is at about 8000# loaded.
Its not a 90mph mountian puller, but it gets me to the track just fine.

It'll work fine....it'll make the '86 F350 460 dually we had with the C6 3.50/1 geared deal we used back in the day look like shit.
It's easy for others to spend your money.

Re: F-250's with 6.2 L Gas
Picked up a new F250 with a 6.2 gasser from Lem, pulled a new enclosed trailer / dragster from Ky to Ga and an open trailer with my merc from pa to ga. Pulled fine.
Got about 8-9 mpg with the enclosed, 11-12 with the open and 15-16 not towing.
It has 3.73s and 18" wheels and tires.

Re: F-250's with 6.2 L Gas
I bought mine two weeks ago. They had some good deals on 2012's around here. Picked up a Lariat crew cab 6.2 L, 6 speed trans. Haven't towed with it yet but I think it will do fine.

Re: F-250's with 6.2 L Gas
Don Bowles Raptor gets 14 mpg.
If a guy was looking for 20 + I'd think a Raptor aint where a guy would want to be.

My 5.4 f150 would get 18-21 on the highway depending on the terrain and keeping you foot out of it.

The 7.3 PS's are great trucks, I've owned 2 of them, but they are getting old and just plain wore out.

Re: F-250's with 6.2 L Gas
When I bought my 2012 Lem tried to talk me into a 6.2.
He was absolutely right about buying the 6.2 vs. 6.7; gas is less, maintenance is less, and I don't pull the trailer as much as I should to justify the diesel.
I just wanted the diesel

My '99 does about 17-18 empty and 10-12 pulling ( depending on the right foot )
