Have full body (not stripped down) complete 1969 mustang fastback w/ 545, 11.2 comp., Dove heads (pocket ported, bigger valves), solid flat tappet cam, .648 lift, 262 intake duration @.050, .648 ex. lift, 265 ex. duration, 110 lobe separation, c6, 8" continental converter, 4.11 gears, 2" crites headers. 4150 1050 carb. Runs 11.13 @ 121.5 mph in cool air. Cross finish line @ 6400 rpm. Approx 3500 lbs. So....question is, A) would alum heads along w/ mafia intake & dominator carb get me to mid 10's ?
B) bigger cam ?
C) fully port heads I currently have, add flat top pistons for more comp, bigger cam? 4400 ft. elevation, SLC utah..thanks in advance!

Heads, intake and Dominator should certainly get you there. It may be a little more cost effective to upgrade to a roller cam, and Dominator. What intake do you have on it now? And there's always Methanol!

I currently have the TFS track heat manifold. Car usually does 1.57 to 1.60 60' times , 28" x 10 tire, shift at 6000 rpm. This elevation takes 12 -13 % power away Sad

I went 10.50@129 with very similar engine but 4.300 stroke and out of the box TFS Streets with a hair more lift than you at 3550 (with me in it) truck but race at 800 foot real elevation.

I believe this would run about 10.5 - 10.6 at low elevation based on the NHRA correction factor. I wonder about the Dove-c heads I have, after the machine shop installed the ferrea valves, there was no machine ridge in the throat, so maybe just enlarged seat area? Running old 1974 traction bars also ! ha ha

So go with larger solid roller setup, dominator manifold, and use current heads ? Will Dove heads keep up with 545 cid?

Get a set of bigger heads and a dominator. A set of TFS Streets with a big time port job, a new Dominator flanged intake with a 1050 or 1150 dominator, and a modern roller cam will be a big upgrade IMO.

Also By your comments about your suspension, it might be good to evaluate what you have and look into some modern upgrades as far as springs, shocks and traction devices.

True on suspension needs. The car has calvert racing front shocks and moroso front springs, but I thought I would try 6 cyl / 302 springs this year. Rear has 5 leaf spring with cheap competition engineering rear shocks. I talked with John Calvert at the Las Vegas street car race last november, getting some of his adj. rear shocks soon. Also going to try his Cal Tracs.

what type of rear posi, spool..type tire slick, drag radial.. 60' arent bad but could be better 1.45 would help. need alittle more mph around 125, 126... cal trac work well on a slick car drag radial take alot of work but can get it done. i think you can get 10.90's with a better suppension but you need 50-60 more hp for the mph. put a small plate on and done

Thanks for all replys. Car has detroit locker, moser 31 spline axles, strange nodular case. Tires are M/T E.T. streets, fairly worn. Front has kind of heavy 17" Am. racing torque thrust II wheels with street tires. Had my eye on Billet Specialties 15x4 front wheels w/drag tires to remove weight off front end. Originally was going to drive it a bunch on street........but really only race it.
