you asked for a junk build!!
Ok, so i was kind of lurking the site and seen a few post about junk build request's. Well I just happen to have one. 1st off I have no clue with old carb engines. Have never owned one or worked on one before.
bought this project truck the guy said its a 429. the motor was already in, no rocker arms or push rods installed so that was kind of weird. had not been fired just laid in the truck.
Went to pick and pull, got some rockers, bolts, distributor, coil, ignition module. just need to figure out the missing vac lines and hook up the fuel line. engine turned over with the plugs out, will see if it will start tomorrow.

^ lol!!
I just realized that Im missing the banjo bolt and fitting for the carb. Have a few questions though:
1: what is this return line for? is it a vent or can I block it off? (its on the hard line coming off the fuel pump going to the carb)
2: Not sure what ignition system I have? just robbed the complete set up off a junk yard truck. I seen some diagrams that show splicing wire's and installing a resistor. But My coil is hooked up directly to the ignition module, and the coil has a resister on it to boot. From what I can tell the only wires to hook up are the white and red coming out of the module? Anyone know what I should supply to each color wire?
diagram I was looking at, in red you see were the resistor is shown:

ok got it figured out, or at least i think i do. The red wire to the module i put to run, the white to start, and there was a separate red running to the coil I just hooked up to switch 12v as there is a resister on the coil. now just gotta get a fitting for carb

Ahhh, turns out it was indeed junk. started to fire up but head gasket is toast. Ended up picking up a new motor, just going to keep it simple small block efi

Head gaskets are cheaper than changing the motor !!
