trans cooler
Is it a good idea to use the trans cooler that's built into the radiator or is it best to use a seperate cooler?

Depends on application and what you are doing with the vehicle.

On an 1/8 mile only car we very seldom use them at all. Street car, I would use a stacked plate type no matter what.

I use one of the heat sink type, mounts under the car next to the trans. It dont need much.

I think a cooler trans is a better working longer lasting trans !

If you tow to the lanes, make a hit, and tow back to the pit you don't put much heat in it. So I guess it depends on your application.

X2. High h.p. + high stall speed = high converter temp.
High converter temp. = fried trans fluid.
Fried trans fluid = shorter trans life.
