This is what we're up against.......
For those intersted, here are a few pics I got from Rick Brown in an email... I've seen all of these pics before in the last couple of years, but not all together. So I thought I'd post them here so you could see what we're up against when we go hunting here in Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming... 4 of these pics came from Idaho, as far as I know, and was told... 2 are from Montana... They're marked below...
This pic I know was taken by my friend's friend from a plane over the Montana-Idaho border. My friend Roy, and his friend are antler traders... The pack in this pic will "kill" 600+ elk/year. That's 25 elk/year per wolf!! It's no wonder the elk herds are in the shape they're in...
All I'll say about the rest of these pics is, just look at the size of these things... These are NOT the native Gray Wolves that lived here in the past.
This one came from Montana:
This is possibly the same wolf as above... It's hard to tell with the different lighting, but it's definitely the same gal in both pics...
This pic looks exactly like one of the wolves we saw when Rob and the gang were up last month... This gal's got spunk, Using a pistol!!
You can see the ranch house in the valley in this pic. Wolves are very bold, to say the least

Wow, I never dreamed they'd get that big! The size of those could cause serious threats to man and animals!

Wolf Pic
My neigbor/buddy is running a road grader building ice roads up north of Fort Nelson, British Columbia on the territories border and he is always taking pics of wolves around there and sending then to me(as well as Wolverine, Carribo, Elk).
But these here pics of wolves show that they are in very good shape/large and healthly, maybe because of the easy prey and the not quite so cold temps.
I also have to wonder if at one time in the distant past some of these wolves have interbred with the Malamute working dogs from Alaska. I know that some people have crossbred wolves with large dogs and dogs will pack up if left on their own. A buddy of mine had a Siberian Husky run away from his place and pack up with a German Sheppard and a couple other mongrels and his neighbors saw them take down a deer. So the farmers in the area had no choice but to put the pack down.

If you have the time, sit and watch this clip. It was done as a college project by 2 brothers in Jackson, Montana. Very informative, and now that you know how big these animals are, you'll understand where we're coming from, and why there's such a problem.

Here are a couple that'll make the hair on your neck stand up... Trust me, when you hear them howling and you're hunting elk (or anything for that matter) it's quite humbling...
