I'm currently running a slightly warmed up 390 that I built, and I also swapped in a TKO 600 tranny and 3.82 gears. She's pleasant to drive and goes fairly well when I mash on the gas pedal but I can't stop myself from thinking from time to time that a big car should have a big engine. I'd like to put the car into the 12's which can be done with the FE motor but it seems like more cubic inches would make it a bit more street friendly for everyday driving. Since the Galaxie is my only vehicle, streetability is very important.

Either do a stroker 445 FE or leave it alone and enjoy it. It looks to nice to hack up.

Re: FE user
I'm with dave on this one FE stroker or it could be a real PIA with spark plug changes and what not without some modifications...GREAT LOOKING CAR!!
Re: FE user
Thanks guys!
I ended up going for the 458" FE stroker. Same deal as the 445 but with an extra .125" stroke. I'm having Blair Patrick build me a copy of one he did recently that put out 595 ft/lb at 3800 rpm. That qualifies as big block torque in my book and it'll drop right in place of the 390. Should be real sweet in a heavy driver like mine

Man you don't mess around that was a quick trigger pull! With 595 at 3800 it will be more than enough making it hard to keep some rubber on the rear tires.
