I'm currently running a slightly warmed up 390 that I built, and I also swapped in a TKO 600 tranny and 3.82 gears. She's pleasant to drive and goes fairly well when I mash on the gas pedal but I can't stop myself from thinking from time to time that a big car should have a big engine. I'd like to put the car into the 12's which can be done with the FE motor but it seems like more cubic inches would make it a bit more street friendly for everyday driving. Since the Galaxie is my only vehicle, streetability is very important.

Here she is, two tons of fun, plus and extra 340 pounds, lol

Either do a stroker 445 FE or leave it alone and enjoy it. It looks to nice to hack up.

Thanks guys!

I ended up going for the 458" FE stroker. Same deal as the 445 but with an extra .125" stroke. I'm having Blair Patrick build me a copy of one he did recently that put out 595 ft/lb at 3800 rpm. That qualifies as big block torque in my book and it'll drop right in place of the 390. Should be real sweet in a heavy driver like mine What a Face

Man you don't mess around that was a quick trigger pull! With 595 at 3800 it will be more than enough making it hard to keep some rubber on the rear tires.
