closing on my first home may 31st !!

first house 178k ....most places similar in Mass are around 210-230k this just came on market 10 days ago

1 acre of land , Ranch ...finished basment with bar 7 rooms total 1480sqft built in 1971

only issue im going to have to get used to for now is .....1 car garage !!!! .....but have 1 acre to build somthing eventually

1 car garage is going to be tuff ..gonna have to go on garagejournal.com and see how these people organize a1 car garage ........ but theres 2 good size sheds out back as well for storage and yard tools n mowers

downfall is i prob got enuff stuff to fill a 4 car garage lol

but i love the property ...and house ......and know i can build somthing eventually bigger garage wise

3.875 % interest rate put down 5 % and with closing costs

1,079 $ with taxes included ....to boot

Congrats on your first home. I remember how proud I was when I purchased my first place.

Build a big one. I know a guy who builds barns, pole buildings, etc. for a living. His construction crews all wear t-shirts that say, "If I ever meet a man that builds a barn big enough, I will kiss his a$$." That said, I figured my 40' x 60' garage would be plenty big enough...um-m-m...not so.

Congratulations! I think it's still one of the best investments you can make, especially when you're amassing equity that you can't acquire when you're renting. You gotta live someplace, and your own home is a good place to do itl Housing crashes and slumps come and go, but home ownership is still a great goal.

Congrats! I've built two 30x50 shops.. Buy the weld up kit and insulate it..12 ft. min. walls in case u buy a car lift in the future...High output lights will come in handy too.......good luck

Im 24 years old make 55k a year ...i work for Depuy Synthes Johnson & Johnson Orthapedics
Im a cnc setup machnist working from a model here in Raynham MA and have surf cam schooling under my belt and been here for 5 years .

Same company that makes baby products johnson & johnson but they are into medical implants heavy .

I cant be more thankful for that .


KEY question any idea how the hell to set up a one car garage to work on a foxbody mustnag drag car lol ....limited on room , i may pour a concrete pade on side of garage for out side work when weathers good ..

1 car garage sucks but it will do for now

Can you (Someday) build a second garage bay on that concrete pad you want to pour for outside work? Not saying that you should do it right away, but maybe down the road a bit, when the $$ settle down and you're ready for it??
