when is it time to change
when is it time to change from a wet sump to external dry sump set up, does it depend on the rpm you are swinging too, or is it horsepower related.

Both, and also it's budget related. As a rough rule of thumb, maybe anything over 1000 Hp and over 7,400 rpm for an extended period of time, such as truck pullers. I mean we all know that dry sumps are better, it's just a matter of when do you want to take the plunge.

The higher the lateral G forces are on the vehicle ... the more a dry sump will help.
The trick is to maintain constant oil flow & pressure without the crankcase being so full of oil that it costs with oil aeration and horsepower.
