Crane Ultra Pro Mechanical Roller Lifters 35570-16 are they any good
Hello I am building a brand new motor pump gas 598 cubic inch. I am needing to know that if these lifters are better than Comp Cam 836-16 lifters. Here is some Information of these Crane Ultra Pro Lifters. Tell me what you think.
They should be used in all drag race
applications with spring seat pressures in excess of 300 lbs., and open pressures over
800 lbs.

I put enduramax Crowers in mine with A heads. Would not say they are "the best" but they are pretty good. "Best" can come down to opinion. There are a lot of good lifters available.

Without a doubt, Jesel is the best lifter out there.

$1,500-$2,700 depending on the style and model.

The reason I want to change from Comp Cam is because I am hearing a lot of bad things about them failing. Can someone in lighten me on the lifters and help me choose in which lifter to buy.

On the street with the high valve spring pressures of a competition roller camshaft valve train, there is NO roller lifter to survive high mileage street driving without constant maintenance and lifter rebuilding.

This^^^^. Jesels arrva really nice piece.
Re: Crane Ultra Pro Mechanical Roller Lifters 35570-16 are they any good
Given the cam specs you mentioned in your other post, I suspect the newer Comps with the pressurized pin oiling and tighter needle tolerances (same part number) would be fine for a couple of years. I used the Crane Ultra-pros for four years(2 sets) with one failure. 230# seat, 540# open 276/284*@.050 .800 lift. 1.8:1 rockers which matters. I had these before their 'reorganization' and they were a quality product.IMHO

If your going to drive it on the street alot, you need to consider street lobes, tight lash and softer springs. 300 / 800 is going to kill most anything driving in real steet conditions.
You need to decide if you want a Race car that you drive to the burgher stand once a year or a Street car you take to the track every once in a while.
Another suggestion if you think you need big big numbers, is to build a very mild engine and strap on a blower or turbos.

I agree with cool40 . Two of my buddies built street rods with big blocks in em . They put solid rollers in em and have had a lot of trouble keeping them together.
