1980 mercury capri ?

I'm looking at a work beater. It's a 4 cylinder, I think 2.3 liter. With a standard trans. My wife can't drive a standard, and I have a good c-4 trans. Is the bell housing the same? I tried looking it up on line but I had no luck.

Belhousing is not the same as a SBF, the 2.3's had C3's behind them it they had a 3 speed.

Is there a smaller bell housing to bolt to a c-4 that will work?

I'm not sure the C3 bell will fit or not. Might just consider finding a JY AOD for a 2.3 and get everything to install it.

Or just teach the wife to drive a stick?

I'll try and teach her. The hills are steep where she goes to work and to top it off there's stop signs. I could see her running them just so she wouldn't have to start from a stop on a hill. Thanks for the help.

The C3 bell I think will bolt to a C4. I have one in the parts barn and smoked it over fairly close, I am going to put one behind my turbo Ranger one day.

I think the 2300 I4 and 2.8 V6 have the same bolt pattern. The 80-83 bronco II's I think have the bell your looking for.
