FNG with 1/2 a 460
Hey everyone, I just joined this site to learn more about 460 Ford components. I am building up a Mercruiser 470, which is essentially 1/2 a BBF cast in Aluminum. It will be going in to a dune buggy (if I can make it fit). Plans currently are 4.39 bore x 4.04 stroke crank. 6.800 BBC Chevy Rods, Diamond Pistons, P51 Kaase head, reground flat hydraulic cam with good lifters. I can easily make the same power to weight with something like an LS or v6 Honda with a turbo, but where is the fun or challenge in that? MY dream motor would be a 4.6" bore MID based block, with a 4.24 stroke crank, custom rods, custom pistons, drysump, roller cam and a Boss9 head. I will be building/fabricating an Individual throttle body intake manifold for this motor. Once I get going on the build I will post back. In case anyone is interested here is a great thread on Jalopy Journal if you want to learn more about these engines.

I would like to hear that thing under power. That would be a baddass engine maxed out w/ported A head or p51 w/nice big roller.

A roller would be nice, unfortunately no one has billet cores set up and ready to go. The last person that looked in to it said it was a multi-thousand dollar affair to get someone to design the cam core with the distributor drive gear on it. Since I am sticking with wet sump for now, I need the drive gear on the cam. I should probably grab a cam core from a 460 and see how close they are. The bore space is the same, I just need to check the cam journal diameters and timing events.bbf-falcon wrote:I would like to hear that thing under power.
