Sander question Empty Sander question

Post  HorsinAround August 23rd 2013, 6:09 pm

My old orbital sander died and I need to get another one. 90% of its use is autobody work like knocking paint down to prep for paint and sometimes taking the paint down to the metal. I was looking at the air Da sander, but was kind've wanting an electric one. Any recommendations?

I have sanded down a entire 747 aircraft using a Dynabrade sander. They are pneumatic but really were tough as nails..

My favorite DA was a National Detroit. Quiet, long lasting, pricey.

I like my electric porter cable here one like I have https://store.schoolspecialty.com/OA_HTML/ibeCCtpItmDspRte.jsp?minisite=10064&item=373992&gclid=CIvRstuflbkCFUkS7AoduCAAYA
I have had it about 20yrs at the time I got it I didn't have a big air compressor to run one plus it not near as loud as air all I have done to it is change the pad a few times and put a new plug on the cord. I know it has sanded everything from cars/trucks, wood, and what ever I needed to sand.
