ingredients for bbf
Need the ingredients for a street engine in a 64 galaxie 500. Stock block thinking cubes around 532 or 557. Have maddog headers and installing ac. I have built many race engines but street builds always seem a little harder. Like every build need strong torque and have good street manners. Any help would be appreciated on heads, cam and intake combo. Would hydraulic roller be better than flat tappet? Eddy heads or blue thunder etc. And have not bought a rotating assembly yet so if anyone selling one?

I always thought it would be interesting to see this engine Lem did in a street car.

For a real street engine a hydraulic roller would be a good choice, just need to keep the rpm below 6000ish.

Re: ingredients for bbf
are hydraulic rollers not very dependable? And scj heads with a air gap intake?

If you are going to go hydraulic, I'd just stick with the flat tappet. Hyd rollers are expensive for the BBF. On the flip side, you could get a solid roller street cam.

For a heavy street car with 'manners' that truck engine would be a good referance point. Then:61coon wrote:I always thought it would be interesting to see this engine Lem did in a street car.

1] Bump the cubes to 521-533"
2] Bump comp. ratio to 10.5ish .
3] Carb. from 735 VS to 780 VS - with the same intake manifold.
4] Same TFS heads or the FRPP SCJA heads.
5] 8-12 degrees more cam..... depending on gear and converter.
It may still peak early but, it'll be a pussy cat with tiger claws i.m.o.
Re: ingredients for bbf
Thank you all for the direction change. I am afraid the engine I would be have built be over cammed and under powered. I be calling Mr. lem.

Me personally, for a street car only would not go w/bore over .030 w/stock block. Heating might be a problem w/thin cyl. walls. I would def. go w/4.5 crank and a c6 tranny w/big Galaxie.Flat tappet would be my preference w/780-850 carb.
