Great Day at the Nostalgia Drags
Yesterday, there was a nostalgia race at Atlanta Dragway called the Gear Jam Drags.
Before going, I called the promoter to check on his rules. One rule was "no modern hood scoops"
A few months ago, a buddy got me a cool red plastic newspaper delivery box.
I already had the 58 in nostalgia trim from the Hot Rod Reunion in New Hampshire...no electronics...no restrictor plates...ect. The Gear Jam rules also did not allow 2-steps on the starting line. They teched the 58 and said that I could run Gasser or Hot Rod class, so I entered both.
Leaving WFO the car was simply undriveable. It was all over the track.
After the third qualifying attempt, my Trans brake quit working. I either had to work on the car, go home...or Foot Brake! So...I ran the rest of the event by foot braking from a fast idle and whacking the triple Flying Toilets open in the last amber (it was a heads up full tree deal).
The car went straight, 60 footed .05 faster and ran its best ET and speed ever at Atlanta Dragway. 9.10 at 150.
I also won both heads up classes. They had a Top Eliminator, dial your own bracket race for all of the class winners. I won that too.
I have the best paging weather station on the market and the best ET prediction software, but I was too busy hot-lapping the 58 to even look at the weather or key enter any runs. 100% seat of the pants foot brake racing. What a blast. Payday....$1650!

Interceptor A460 heads and the 3rd toilet , I guess. It surely helped to have it hook smoothly too.Dave C. wrote:Good job . Where did you come up with the extra mph ?
My normal races at Atlanta Dragway are Lucas Oil events where I run it with restrictor plates and a couple hundred more pounds of ballast with, timing, fuel system and shift points backed off to make it run 10.0 Index and 9.90 S/Gas with no throttle stop.

Thanks guys. Now if I can only tighten up my deal a little and get a win at the upcoming Lucas Oil race at Reynolds Ga in a couple weeks.....

Your hood scoop looks great. Looks like the color almost match's the car. Need a sticker that says never late, usually earily or something to that effect.

Re: Great Day at the Nostalgia Drags
I have been too busy to work on it. It has power going through the switch and to the brake. I didn't even work on it at the track, since it was so smooth footbraking.bigblockfox468 wrote:Good job Keith

I will check it out this weekend...and get it ready for the next weekend.
Thanks,
Keith
Re: Great Day at the Nostalgia Drags
I have run a few rounds earlier this year, and I will put them back on and get it in 10.0 / 9.90 trim this weekend. There is a Lucas Oil race in Reynolds GA the following weekend where I will double enter S/G and 10.0 Index. It is tough to cut a .400 pro tree lite with all of the ballast in the car (3900...4000#) and the timing backed off.PanaVet wrote:Awesome!

I am sure ready to give it a try!
Thanks all for the nice comments
