What Lem said.....Lem Evans wrote:You could use a F250 6.2 if you have concerns about using a F150.John Myrick wrote:I have a 2011 F350 CC with the 6.7 but , it sits alot and I know things go wrong with diesels that just sit and not so much with a gasser. And the maintenance isn't as severe with a gasser.
The wife just started pulling the 27' camper with her 2012 F250. 6.2 ...
Said truck didn't even know camper was back there and it weighs about 5500lbs...

If your sure that's all you are going to tow with it you don't need a bigger truck.John Myrick wrote:I'm actually thinking about selling the car and trailer. I would just need to move the trailer around a little until I sell it.

On the farm here we always say towing a trailer is one thing, STOPPING a trailer is another.

Re: Eco Boost Towing
X2,The things Nick mentioned is some of the problems i hear of.I'm on the second EcoBoost truck the first one a 2011 they replaced the intercooler TSB bulletin.I have a 2013 now never had problems with either one.I know the 2013 has different spark plugs then the 2011 had and idles smoother then the 2011 did. They do run good the 2011 ran a best of a 14.67 at 93.7 mph and the 2013 ran a 14.88 at 91.7 mph the 2011 had 3.55 gears and the 2013 has 3.31 gears. Not bad for Supercab 4X4 trucks.

Re: Eco Boost Towing
FWIW,....
That 2011 F-150 was probably 30k + new.
Personally, I'd much rather have a little older diesel (95-03, 7.3) for super heavy towing and a nice used gasser to knock around in and haul/tow the lighter stuff,.......AND,... "probably" have a lot less money in it than you would have in the 11 model alone that you're looking at.
I've towed with gassers,......I hated it. Too many steep grades around my part of the country.
I've had a diesel truck as my daily driver,......got tiresome and began to hate it too.
I actually had two trucks several years ago and thought,.......Why don't I just get a decent diesel and drive it all the time. Big mistake,.....as the rattle, rattle shit everyday got old,.... real quick.
These days I went back to having two, as one of each makes life MUCH, much easier,...... AND if you do have one to break down on you, you always have the other to fall back on in a pinch.
