I agree with the Harbor Freight lift you can't beat the price and they hold up good on the engine leveler I the ones that bolt to the carb pad the ones that hook to each corner work ok but in a tight place sometimes the cowl get in the way.

X3! Damned good piece especially for the money, you can usually get them on sale for ~$150-$200. The stores will honor online or advertised prices. There are a lot of lower quality lifts that cost more out there. I have had mine for over five years now and only issue is the pump on the ram leaks just a couple drops when you use it but I have pulled or installed more than 75 engines with it (used to replace engines for local car lots).

HF (2 Ton), handled my 460/C6 at the 1Ton position. Had to move it from side of car to position it in the front of car, no problem. I had 2 buddies helping me, though. Bought it for $159, 4 years ago.
Edit...I took my wife to Harbor Freight once and had a hard time getting her out of the place, haha.

Re: shopping fo an engine hoist
One thing that make most of the jacks leak is they get left outside with a engine hanging in the air and or someone leave the boom up on them and the ram get wet and rust then get let down with the rust still on the ram and the rust cuts the seal. I have a HF that is 15 years old and has always been left outside it is one of the old type that don't fold up the jack on it has started leaking some at the handle part but it has served me well. I also have one of Northern Tools it is nice I have had it about 3 years but it cost twice as much as the HB if I would have had to pay for it I would have bought HF but it was gift.
