Hey Mike,
I've been gone for a bit but have I really been gone THAT LONG?!?!?!? You've aged! You are 91 years old? Wow, I need to go check with HR and see if I can retire

Re: P51 thread......
what is the 2.300 intake valve size worth in flow number wise on the p51 heads?

Larry,
About 10 cfm. We've done it with both stainless steel valves and with titanium valves. It works good.

Rick,
There are some head porters and head designers that believe that you can never put too big of an intake valve in a racing head. However, there are others that say you CAN put too big of an intake valve in a racing head, and they give some pretty good facts about valve efficiency, port velocity and etc. I agree with them.
On the A-460 heads, the 2.350" diameter valve seems about right for most heads that are out there. Just automatically putting a 2.400" valve in there, isn't going to make the head flow better, if, if, if, a 2.350" valve was all that particular port needed mechanically. Now then, if those A-460 heads have been fully ported and flow tested, with flow testing of every cylinder in order to maximize flow, then most often a 2.400" valve will help. We might see an extra 6 to 10 cfm in flow.
An analogy would be like using different intake manifolds. If a guy has 650-700 Hp 514 CID engine that is just so-so, and he's running a Victor single plane, going to the TFS Mafia intake manifold isn't going to give him anything in terms of additional Hp, because the engine did not need the extra airflow the manifold is capable of. However on the bigger CID engines that are in the 850-950 Hp range, then when he switches to a TFS Mafia intake, he might very well see some additional Hp on the order of 12 -20 Hp, because the engine needed the additional airflow.
Many of these speed parts that we buy for our engines will give us something in return, simply based on their own merit. While other speed parts that we buy are "enablers",, things such as low tension rings, gas ports, thin ring packages and etc. give us more Hp when used in conjunction with a vacuum pump.
Hope this helps,
Charlie Evans

The once a month conference call line was funny as hell, Barney. Don't go over to 460 Ford.com, it could be on a quarterly basis over there it seems.Barney wrote:But coug can say whatever he wants. Is this selective moderating again. I havent come on here in months. Its still the same hypocracy and good ol boy non sense. Only seven people post regularly and theres nothing new. You yuck yucks dont need a forum. You just need a once a month conference call. I dont know why I let myself be talked into coming on here again.QtrWarrior wrote:If you knuckle draggers can't tone it down, This one is done too...
