Re: March Madness
STAT OF THE DAY
Louisville vs. Kentucky has been called the best rivalry in college basketball at the moment, and with both Duke and North Carolina out of the tournament, nobody is going to argue. Their meeting next week in Indianapolis, just up the road from both campuses, will also mark the first time since 2004 that the winners of the previous two national championships collided in the tournament the following year — and just the fourth time in NCAA history.
STATS notes that could be a good omen for Louisville, since the defending champion has won all three previous clashes: 2004, Syracuse beat Maryland (round of 32); 1995, Arkansas beat North Carolina (national semifinal); 1962, Cincinnati beat Ohio State (championship game).

Re: March Madness
MIDWEST REGIONAL, Indianapolis, Friday-Saturday.
Indianapolis is about to be invaded by people from the commonwealth of Kentucky. Those wearing red are for Louisville, those wearing blue are for the University of Kentucky. There will be fans of Tennessee and Michigan in town, but they will be hard to notice with all those Kentuckians in for a visit.
Tennessee, a No. 11 seed, is the third team that played in the First Four to reach the regional semifinals. The Volunteers have won eight of nine with the only loss to Florida in the SEC tournament. They reached the Sweet 16 with a frontcourt dismantling of Mercer, outrebounding the team that beat Duke 41-19.
Second-seeded Michigan is in the round of 16 for the second straight year and the Wolverines are trying to get back to the national championship game where they lost to Louisville. Nik Stauskas led an outside attack that saw Michigan make 14 3-pointers in a third-round win over Texas.
Kentucky beat Louisville 73-66 just days after Christmas in the schools' annual meeting. This one is going to be on a higher level as Kentucky's roster of high school stars meets a Louisville squad that features key players who were on last season's national championship team.
Kentucky, the preseason No. 1, did what no other team could do this season — beat Wichita State. In what has to be the best game of the tournament so far, the Wildcats played above their years in handing the Shockers their first loss of the season.
Louisville is in the round of 16 for the third straight year and the great news for the Cardinals is that Naismith Hall of Fame coach Rick Pitino is 16-0 in the regional semifinals. His team has won 14 of its last 15 games overall and eight straight in the NCAA tournament.

No dog in this fight anymore as both NU and Creighton are out by losing to the same team. Baylor beat them both quite soundly. Hats off to Baylor and I hope that they go all the way

The Buckeyes won't put Dayton on their schedule at ANY time because they have said that they would have nothing to gain.
If they win ... they were supposed to win;
and, if they lose, well you get it.
Chicken $hit attitude I would say.
I was so glad to see them beat Ohio State, (I can't stand all the press about Aaron Craft as he gets away with plays which would be fouls for anybody else, all the time).
Then Dayton wins their next game, too.
Even though I am from southeast Michigan ... GO FLYERS...!

Re: March Madness
If SEC basketball is so bad how did they have 3 teams at 8. 2 at four and ky in the finals. All I hear the sports people say is how SEC basketball sucks.

Re: March Madness
Good question Ward.
Get this...
Local Radio Host Tony Vanetti is a U of L fan and hosts Cards Radio show called The Afternoon Underdogs. Anyway, before the tournament started he made a wager with the UK fans and callers. If UK Won the Championship then he would get rid of all of his Louisville Gear and become a UK Fan for a year. He's sweating bullets!!!! LOL!
Should be a GREAT game tonight.
